Nd Du Mont Carmel Stucco Statuette, Olot Workshops, Glass Eyes, 1920-1930
Rare and very fine hand-painted wood and polychrome stucco religious statuette from the 1920s-1930s, depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel carrying the Infant Jesus, Catalan manufacture, Olot workshop production, illegible but very recognizable stamp on back, period and attribution consistent with aesthetics, stucco molding technique, very expressive glass/sulfide eyes.
Nice size, 33cm high, 13-14cm wide, 10cm deep max. Very good overall condition, no visible flaws, selective paint retouching, and homemade restoration of the left hand holding the cord, namely: 2 fingers recreated before being repositioned on the wrist and repainted, clean and very discreet work, the rest is in superb condition, with a few rare and very discreet age-related flaws such as yellowing of the tints on the unretouched parts, missing halos and glory on the back of the heads, filled holes, and a small, very discreet rework on the back of the crown. A fine, highly decorative piece. Approx. 500 g.
