Large Sèvres Blue Porcelain And Gilded Bronze Mantel Set, Napoleon III 1870
Description
Important decorative set composed of two covered vases and a central bowl forming a jardinière. The set is distinguished by an intense celestial blue background, characteristic of Sèvres production, sublimated by a rich gilded decoration with scrolls, palmettes and architectural frames. The reserves feature finely hand-painted galant and pastoral scenes inspired by the 18th-century rococo repertoire, with elegant figures, idealized landscapes and musical subjects. The quality of execution and balance of proportions reflect a production of great luxury.
