Elegant pair of Louis XVI style oil lamps finely crafted in gilt bronze and white marble, featuring original frosted and acid-etched glass globes. These lamps embody the refined taste of the late 19th century, when the neoclassical aesthetic once again became fashionable in French decorative arts.
The gilt bronze mounts display exquisite chiselling: floral garlands, beaded friezes, and classical female masks adorned with wreaths, all hallmarks of Louis XVI ornamentation. The tripod base, gracefully balanced, rests on a geometrically shaped white marble plinth decorated with gilt rosettes and acanthus feet.
The original spherical glass shades are delicately frosted and acid-engraved with stylised floral motifs — a signature technique of 19th-century French glassmaking workshops.
In excellent overall condition, unrestored and not electrified, with bright and even gilding. French work, circa 1870–1880.
