A refined French writing table veneered in rosewood and bois de violette, beautifully adorned with intricate marquetry panels depicting rural landscapes, typical of mid- to late-18th-century French and Lorraine craftsmanship. The top features two hinged side flaps and a central lifting section forming a reading stand, retaining its original aged leather surface.
The marquetry is exceptionally detailed, showing pastoral scenes, small buildings and trees in contrasting fruitwoods. The serpentine outline and cabriole legs recall the Louis XV aesthetic, while the more structured geometry of the top anticipates the emerging Louis XVI style, making this a textbook example of the Transition period.
All mechanisms work perfectly. High-quality period restoration, preserving the original materials and visual harmony. An authentic 18th-century piece, not a 19th-century revival.
