Regency Giltwood Carved Glass: Arched Pediment With Openwork And Flowers, Bérain & Tain Style Surround
Artist: Non Signée
A handsome and generous early 18th-century French Regence-style mirror with well-carved arched openwork pediment; in a Bérain-style frame with moving ears, preserved period gilding. A beautiful piece, full of elegance and sobriety at the same time, the beautiful arched pediment adorned with a cartouche center with a flower basket and acanthus spandrels. Of good size and easy to place, it has its original mercury stain and plank back. The fine retouching of the piqueted and squared ornamentation sets the tone, and richness is combined with sobriety. The beautiful original gold leaf has acquired a patina over time, but the fact remains that it has suffered no damage, and its decorative appeal is undeniable in a classic setting as in a modern interior, where it will be of the greatest effect...
