Antique Carved And Gilded Wooden Frame, Cartoccio Style, Tuscany, 19th Century
An elegant small Italian frame from the second half of the 19th century, in a refined Florentine Baroque style. The frame is made entirely of finely carved and gilded wood, featuring rich scrollwork and leaf-shaped volutes, typical of the Tuscan decorative tradition. The composition is very dynamic and sculptural, featuring large openwork scrolls. This type of frame, inspired by 18th-century Florentine Baroque and Rococo models, was highly prized in Florentine decorative arts from the mid-19th century onward.
