13th Century Saint, Poupée De Châsse, Limoges
Magnificent poupees de chasse with a dark, almost black
patina, with some traces of enamel. The face with athe serene expression are the most
beautiful we have seen so far. Formerly made in reliquary caskets (see picture
4), these appliques in the shape of doll-like figures were known in France as
poupées.
