Extremely rare Louis XVI period mass chalice in solid silver.
It is in perfect condition and its vermeil is in very good condition.
Inside the foot and on the bottom of the cup are the same three hallmarks: the master goldsmith hallmark of Pierre Hyacinthe Cordé , the jurand letter I crowned and the charge hallmark 9 , at that time in force throughout Brittany.
Master Goldsmith Pierre-Hyacinthe CORDÉ was received in 1753 in Lorient . Cordé was elected Juré-Garde in 1759, 1764, 1770 and 1779. Goldsmiths' pieces bearing the Lorient hallmark, dating from the ancie régime period, are quite rare, religious goldsmiths' pieces even rarer. The vast majority disappeared in the revolutionary melts, weighing 555 grams.
