Pair Of Apothecary Watch Vases 19th Century Porcelain Valentine Toulouse
Artist: Manufacture De Valentine (haute Garonne)
Very important pair of Grand Vases de Montre de Pharmacie ou Apothicairerie.
These large vases, of no medical use, were used to decorate the fronts or woodwork niches of pharmacies in the 19th century.
Our two specimens, of a pair, bear in their reserves representations of marble busts of Aesculapius (Roman god of medicine) and Hippocrates, a Greek physician of the 3rd century BC. The other reserves are occupied by a rich decoration of flower bouquets, typical of the manufacture's production.
These vases, in 4 parts each, plus the lid come from the famous Pyrenean Manufacture of Fouque et Arnoux, located in Valentine, near Saint-Gaudens in Haute-Garonne.
Very good overall condition.
Total height: 71 cm
