Louis Cabié, a renowned artist in France and particularly in the Bordeaux region, even during his lifetime, circulated in the greater Southwest throughout his life. A pupil of Harpignies, whose passion for vegetation is reminiscent of the Barbizon school, he remained faithful to the simplicity of picturesque French landscapes until his death. Spectacular trees, forest atmospheres, places steeped in history, bewitching valleys, or even a landscape in its simplest form, which he was able to enhance with a vital contrast. The place presented here is unfortunately not identified and certainly not identifiable. Are we in Périgord? Nothing indicates it. These millstones painted at the end of the 1920s in a sunny landscape are a rare subject for the painter.
