Farnese Bull, Clay Sculpture, Italy XIXth Century , Grand Tour
Between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, expensive souvenirs were produced for travellers on the Grand Tour, often replicas of famous works that travellers had the opportunity to see in Italy.
In this case it is a replica of the largest sculptural group to have come down to us from antiquity, originally preserved in the Farnese collection, and now in Naples.
The material is a light terracotta, also called Terra di Signa
It features a restoration of a bull's horn and some fingers of a female figure.
