The Madonna of Trapani is a miraculous sculpture, preserved in the Basilica and Sanctuary of Maria Santissima Annunziata in Trapani. The statue is probably the work of an unknown Pisan master. It quickly became an object of devotion, making Sicily, and the city of Trapani in particular, one of the main pilgrimage destinations in Europe. The production of copies began early, and, from the end of the 16th century, numerous small-scale reproductions began to be made in the city's workshops, in various materials: alabaster, coral, ivory.
