The River In Spring. Early 20th Century Watercolor. Landscape.
This early twentieth-century watercolor takes us into a superb landscape. In the center, we see a river bordered by lush, flowering vegetation. In the foreground, large pink flowers blend perfectly with the background, a hill treated in ochre tones.
The brushstroke is free. The artist uses a sublime palette of greens, browns, ochres and pinks, with effects of transparency and diffusion characteristic of the watercolor technique. Contours remain supple, sometimes sketched, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and sensation.
The work exudes an impression of calm and bucolic nature, typical of the intimist landscapes of the early twentieth century.
