Superb watercolor representing ships stranded for caulking along a quay of a Norman town. Drawing and watercolor by Eugène DESHAYES (1828-1890), French painter who exhibited at the salon from 1848 to 1867. Of a sensibility close to that of Eugène BOUDIN and Jean Baptiste COROT, he mainly painted Norman landscapes. His paintings are preserved in different museums such as the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre ... This watercolor with magical tones with shades of ocher and brown. The details of the boats are realistic, nice painting and high quality in excellent condition in a modern frame.
