Plaster Fountain Project By Gaston Aimé Dumont
Artist: Gaston Aimé Dumont
Superb and rare fountain project by Gaston-Aimé DUMONT (1899-1984). He was a sculptor and statuary, he is found in the inventory of French culture for a life-size work entitled "the Duchess of Galliera". There is also a model named "Jesus. Host" dated 1936. There is also a book that describes Gaston-André (or Gaston -Aimé) DUMONT (BEAUMONT in Argonne because he was born in the Ardennes) as making sculptures, bas-reliefs, monuments etc.... which confirms that he was indeed a sculptor and plastic artist. As for this fountain project, it represents a young woman completely naked placing her right foot on the head of a mask resting on steps. The water was to spring from this mask. Very beautiful architectural element, with characteristic forms of the period as well as the hairstyle of the young woman. Quality work in excellent condition, very decorative in the most beautiful Art-Deco spirit.
