Is this a view of the Alpilles taken from the olive groves between Mouriès (where Serra had a residence) and Les Baux-de-Provence, or could it be the Garlaban or the Etoile massif that the Marseille painter particularly appreciated?
In any case, our painting was done by a talented artist who used bluish grays for the mountains in contrast to the earthy ochres and muted greens on the foreground landscapes, just as Antoine Serra did in his day.
