Victor De Gronckel was a Belgian artist born in 1820 and died in 1890.
He is known for his portraits, genre scenes and
also religious scenes and Icons which he produced during
his residence in the Russian Empire. He won a gold medal at the Salon
de Bruxelles in 1866. His works are notably conserved at
the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg and at the Kuopio Museum
in Finland.
Our painting is a standard format of 33 cm x 24 cm, i.e. a 4 F.
It is presented in an attractive 19th century frame, gilded.
Dimensions with frame, 55 cm x 46 cm.
This is a delicate work, with a beautiful atmosphere.
