"Copper Circa 1660. Attributed To Gillis Neyts. Village Scene. Flemish School, 17th Century."
Beautiful copper from the Flemish school of the 17th century, attributed by the Turquin cabinet to the Flemish painter, Gillis NEYTS (1618 Ghent-1687 Antwerp). He was a painter, engraver, draftsman. The work is painted on copper around 1660 and is in good condition, some "small losses and small restorations". (FEW). Some old varnish has been lightened, but it can be cleaned further. The dimensions are 42 cm x 20.5 cm. Scene with characters and animals, with a castle in the background somewhat overgrown by vegetation. To be framed. The touch is delicate and very characteristic of the artist.
