6 Tiles. Kütahya. Anatolia. Mid-20th Century. 60 X 40 Cm
Comme un bouquet qui jaillit, complete set of 6 earthenware tiles from Kütahya in North-West Turkey.
This original composition is signed by master craftsman Altın Çini, under the title "Vedat", which means "Love" or "amorous feeling".
This is, of course, a unique piece, entirely hand-painted.
Ceramics from Kütahya have been known since the 16th century. There are Ottoman, Persian, Arab and European influences.
They were sometimes intended to adorn imperial palaces as well as religious sites.
Even today, craftsmen continue to reproduce these traditional techniques.
We observe a multitude of stylized flowers such as what appear to be tulips, carnations and perhaps daisies ( blue flowers with red hearts.
A frame surrounds the scene, it is composed of floral friezes and arabesque motifs.
Mid 20th century.
20 x 20 cm each
60 x 40 cm assembled
Very good condition, 2 small chips on the outer edge.
To be framed perhaps.
