An Embroidery Of Silver Blades On Linen - Tunisia Or Algeria 18th 19th Century
XVIIIth XIXth century
Tunisia or Algeria
A large cream linen panel embroidered with genuine silver blades, probably from an old ceremonial dress, Algeria or Tunisia 18th or 19th century. Reversible embroidery on very fine linen, forming a staggered arrangement of three-flower bouquets. These are two period sewn panels, unhemmed and suitable for reuse in Orientalist decoration. The fabric has been cleaned and there are a few discreet aureoles attesting to the patina of time; the silver blades, on the other hand, are shiny. No major flaws or holes. Good overall condition. We have other panels which will be offered for sale at a later date.
