14K gold tiara comb set with seven oval micomosaic medallions. This tiara comb features a removable blond tortoiseshell part comprising four claws. Curved in shape, it features micromosaic medallions set on a purpurine-colored glass background in elegant filigree work forming scrolls and underlined by a stylized foliage frieze. Each medallion depicts a landscape or monument of ancient Rome, including the tomb of Cecilia Metella, the pyramid of Cestius, and other views of the campo Vaccino or forum, including the temple of Jupiter. These views can be compared with prints by Domenico Pronti. These hair ornaments were revived in the early 19th century. Empire period.
