Box Made Of Patinated Bronze And Gilded Bronze With Hunting Motifs, Napoleon III
A rectangular box made of gilded and patinated bronze, resting on four spindle-shaped legs. The architecturally designed frame is punctuated by uprights adorned with stylized foliage motifs, framing the panels. Each side features dynamic scenes in high relief: a wild boar and a stag being attacked by dogs on the main sides, and a fox and a wolf running through forest landscapes on the sides. The main facade is centered by a keyhole and highlighted by an applied mascaron depicting a winged lion’s head. The domed lid is richly decorated with a central medallion depicting Saint Hubert, surrounded by laurel branches and intertwined cartouches, all framed by a beaded frieze.
Caster: AB. Paris.
The interior is fully lined with red silk upholstery.
Slight wear on the edge of the lid above the lock.
