Renaissance Diminutive Buffet, Double Recessed Body, Solid Walnut, Early 17th Century
Very attractive double-body sideboard in solid walnut, called "diminutive".
It opens on the front with four leaves featuring richly carved panels, with foliage, scrolls, arabesques and carved mirrors.
The pediment, as well as the belt below the central shelf, are adorned with attractive carved brackets.
All the rear jambs, as well as the front jambs, are embellished with a beautiful vertical "bird feather" decoration.
Our piece of furniture rests on two straight rear feet and two ball feet at the front, all topped by a wide molding.
The sides are all panelled and embellished with inlaid fillets.
This piece of furniture is small in size, making it easy to position in an interior.
Very fine early 17th-century work, of high quality workmanship and great refinement for the period.
We would like to point out the repairs carried out at various times: a graft on the lower right molding (see photo), grooves on the two rear feet, extensive filling work on all the panels, particularly on the lower left panel, as well as interior reinforcement on this same panel.
We remind you that this piece of furniture dates back to the early 17th century at the latest!!! and that in relation to its age it is in very good condition .
