Life, movement and color for this spirited oil on canvasby one of the last Impressionist artists, Max Agostini.
The work, in perfect condition, is presented in a carved wooden frame measuring55.5 cm by 72 cm and 38 cm by 55 cm for the canvas alone.
It depicts the lighthouse at the entrance to Cassis harbor, with the rocks of the Presqu'ile in the background.before the famous calanques of the National Park.

In excellent condition, it is signed lower right.

MAX-AGOSTINI was born in Paris in1914, of Corsican descent through his grandparents. He studied at the Ecoledes Beaux-Arts de Paris and discovered a real talent forImpressionism.Incorporated into the French Army for five years at the start of the SecondMAX-AGOSTINI was taken prisoner for three years.During the post-war years, he made a name for himself as an excellentportraitist and landscape artist in Châteauroux, where he worked forfor several years. Later, he settled in Gargilesse in the Berry region and inin Provence. He died in January 1997, and was still painting his most beautiful canvasesa few days before he was hospitalized.Recognized throughout the world as one of the greatest colorists of his timenumerous vernissages in Paris in his presence enabled his admirers to get to knowto get to know the man as well as his painting.
