This attack also known as thethe "conspiracy of the infernal machine", took place on 3 nivôse an IX(December 24, 1800), the fruit of a royalist conspiracy to assassinateassassinate Napoleon Bonaparte, First Consul since the coup d'état of18 brumaire in Paris on November 9, 1799.
This attack, which failed, came shortly after the 18 vendémiaire an IX (October 10, 1800) dagger conspiracy.
