Antique Chinese Silver Opium Pipe With Figural Decoration & Ceramic Bowl, 59 Cm, C19th

A fine antique Chinese opium pipe measuring 59 cm in length, dating to the 19th century.

The pipe is richly decorated with repoussé silver work depicting traditional Chinese motifs including a dragon among clouds and several robed figures, likely representing scholars or immortals. The scenes are finely executed and typical of late Qing dynasty decorative taste, combining symbolic imagery with narrative elements.

The pipe retains its original black-glazed ceramic bowl, which bears an incised poetic inscription reading “Endless wind and moon” (風月無邊), a classical expression evoking refined leisure, contemplation, and the enjoyment of life. Additional stamped marks and a small emblem are present, consistent with workshop production.

Both ends of the pipe are fitted with dark wooden terminals, each mounted with a small ivory or bone mouthpiece element. The overall construction is solid and well balanced, with a pleasing patina to the silver.
