Walnut Weekly Chest, 19th Century.
An elegant antique piece of furniture with a walnut-veneered fir structure, this semainier is composed of seven superimposed drawers, each traditionally corresponding to a day of the week, hence its name.
The drawer fronts feature superb veneer work combining wire veneer and walnut burl. Each drawer is fitted with a brass keyhole. Each drawer is fitted with a brass lock escutcheon.
The slightly overhanging top offers a neat, balanced finish, its aesthetic echoing that of the drawer fronts. At the top of the upright is a stylized sculpture of a flower.
It features small ball feet, in solid walnut.
