Ceramic Boeotia Late Archaic Greece 510-500 Bc
Typical red terracotta ceramic from Boeotia, Archaic Central Greece, dating from 510-500 BC. Depicted is a man on profile with bun, moustache and beard, as on the Aristion stele. The white secretions present are a classic sign of external mineral accumulation over thousands of years. The reverse side of the ceramic shows concentric circles culminating in the centre, where the potter has turned the ceramic.
