Gien Glazed Ceramic Mantelpiece, 2nd Half 19th Century.
It consists of three pieces: an oblong planter and a pair of 'urn' vases, in ceramic with enameled and gilded decoration on a cobalt-blue ground. Mark of Gien circa 1875 and labeled from the Marseilles branch (33 rue St. Ferréol)
of the "Grand Dépôt" (2 rue Drouot in Paris).
The three pieces bear a gilded decoration, of flowers in an entourage of finely painted 'rouelles' and braids of netting.
Other flowers and foliage, executed in thick white and turquoise-blue enamel, add to the cobalt-blue background.
The necks are encircled by ormolu galleries with handles, decorated with fleurs-de-lis and branches. l The bases, also in ormolu with a pearl motif, rest on four cambered feet with 'mascarons'.
Shaped pieces with a rare enamel motif (white and blue) standing out against a gilded decoration. Very good overall condition.
