Cabinet From The Napoleon III Period, In Ebony Veneer And Bone Inlays.
The upper section of this beautiful cabinet opens with two doors adorned with exquisite bone marquetry, revealing a mahogany and mirrored interior fitted with drawers and a shelf. Each door is divided into three panels. The central panel, dominated by a winged sphinx on a slender base, is set within a foliate border with scrolls. The two smaller panels depict bouquets and ears of wheat. The upper rail is decorated with a frieze, featuring a woman's face at its center, surrounded by seahorses and squirrels, within a foliate setting. The sides are decorated with geometric fillet motifs. The lower section, forming a writing desk, opens to reveal a drawer with snail motifs, again within a foliate border. The interior, with its compartments, is also made of mahogany. It rests on four tapered and fluted legs, joined by an 'H' shaped stretcher, decorated with fillets. Top with molded edges and geometric figures. Beautiful piece of furniture in good original condition.
