An unusual solid plaster sculpture with a gray to brownish patina, depicting the bust of a creature with an unsettling appearance.
This work clearly evokes the vampire imagination and likely a free interpretation of the Nosferatu type, with a gaping mouth into which real nails have been embedded, representing aggressive, sharp teeth. This choice lends the work a brutal dimension.
The eyes, also marked by metallic elements, reinforce an impression of inhumanity and emptiness.
The face, elongated and hollowed out, is organized around the mouth, which becomes almost the central focal point of the sculpture. The nails, used as teeth, emerge from this cavity and fully contribute to the ambiguity between a human figure and a predatory presence.
The rest of the bust is carved with various symbols (stylized hands, inverted triangles, flames, etc.) and screaming faces reminiscent of Munch’s The Scream.
The underside, left unfinished, bears a barely legible incised signature.
This work is part of an Expressionist aesthetic. It evokes the vampire’s imagery in its most archaic form: that of a disturbing and raw presence.
It is most likely a unique piece by an independent artist.
A singular and organic sculpture that explores the human figure in its most unstable and profound aspects.

Condition: There is visible wear, areas where the patina is missing, and a few chips and scratches.
