Nuremberg Engraved Iron Box
Richly decorated with hunting animals surrounded by friezes and interlacing patterns:
On the front, two animals chasing each other (fantastic and heraldic figures);
On one side, a stag;
On the back, a unicorn pursued by a dog;
On the other side, a hare;
On the top, a stag pursued by a dog.
Rests on four ball feet, with a handle on top containing a key (not original) and a small, pronged latch to conceal the keyhole. Spring-loaded lock with a four-point locking mechanism.
The interior is oxblood red.
