Transition Style Chest Of Drawers In The Style Of Riesener
A beautiful marquetry commode in rosewood, violet wood, and palisander. The top is a purple brocatelle marble from the Jura region with rounded corners, a corbelled edge, and a cyma molding. The front is curved, with three drawers without crossbars. The marquetry decoration features fillets and fleurons within interlaced circles. The upper drawer and sides are decorated with foliate guilloche. The drawer pulls are framed with moldings and have laurel wreaths. The keyhole escutcheon is a medallion with laurel wreaths and a knotted ribbon. The lower rail is shaped, and the apron is decorated with acanthus leaves. The rounded uprights feature marquetry fluting and drops of ram's heads, laurels, and acanthus leaves. The legs are cabriole with claw feet. The oak frame is French polished in our workshop. In the style of Jean-Henri Riesener (1734-1806). Circa 1950. Height 92 cm, width (marble top) 124 cm, depth (marble top) 56 cm. Delivery available. https://www.antiquites-saintjean.fr
