Brass guard with three branches, long-tailed pommel and quillons, wooden handle covered in calfskin with brass nails. Main guard branch stamped "B" in an oval, supposedly for P. Bouny, controller from September 1800 to 1807, and "Versailles," another stamp near the neck "F" in an oval, supposedly for JB Le Febvre, inspector in July 1807. And on the flat of the pommel, the stamp "Legion of Honour." Curved blade with a fuller, back engraved "Manufacture Impériale du Klingenthal February 1812," stamp "A" surmounted by a star, for JF Alpy, inspector from January to March 1812; and a hallmark "L" of FL Lobstein, inspector from June 1811 to July 1821. Blade length 88 cm. Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings. Overall length 107 cm. Scabbard length 92 cm. Note: guard with 3 scarlet bands. From a house in Aveyron, France. First Empire.
