A superb and elegant early 19th-century oil painting on canvas depicting a young child. This child, seen in three-quarter view, is nude and covered with a stole. With slightly curly hair and a round face, the features are exquisitely delicate. He is presented against a background of clouds, and a star shines above him. The painting is in a Restoration-era giltwood and stucco frame with spandrel decoration, in very good condition. A high-quality work with vibrant and luminous colors, it is in perfect condition and bears the signature JV in the lower right corner.
