Early 19th Century Hanging Clock Movement With Winged Chimeras, Viala Dial In Trébas.
Artist: Viala
An elegant, independent Comtoise clock movement with its pendulum and weights, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, from the Viala clockmaking house in Trébas. This movement, in good condition with its large brass bell, is a beautiful wall ornament, as is its frame in yellow copper, gilded with mercury and chased, like the finely crafted brass hands with openwork sunburst designs, the pediment adorned with winged chimeras on either side of a pedestal with a flamed shell motif, the beautiful dial decorated with Roman numerals painted with the cartouche "à Trébas," the name of the place, delicately floral, above the name Viala. This beautiful movement could punctuate your days, happy ones of course, with the sound of its crystalline chime...
