I present here a painting and its history on the back, this oil on canvas of Monsieur Cuillère, a student of Delcroix, painted during a 28-day military tour (around 1905?). It is a realistic and spontaneous work depicting this young soldier in a blue cap and khaki shirt, expressive and remarkably lifelike. The influence of the great master Delacroix is evident in the artist's brushstrokes. This spontaneous portrait is presented in its gilt-leaf molded frame and is in good condition. The man's direct gaze conveys his self-assurance. The work reveals a high-quality and highly decorative painting from the very beginning of the 20th century; the label on the back explains everything.
