A Hellenistic Boeotian Tanagra figurine depicting a male figure, likely a nobleman or renowned military leader. Dating from the 3rd century BCE, the sculpture displays a fine sense of movement and a firing port on the reverse.

Provenance: the collection of the eminent American archaeologist Iris Cornelia Love (1933–2020). Love is best known for the discovery and excavation of the Temple of Aphrodite at Knidos, a Greek city in ancient Caria (modern-day Turkey), among many other notable finds.
