Ernest Gabard 1879-1957. Plaster sculpture of Christ. This piece belongs to the modernist sacred art movement, with a stylized treatment of volumes and drapery reminiscent of Art Deco aesthetics. The soberly rendered face, clean lines, and vertical composition reflect a formal approach typical of the 1930s-50s. Plaster cast intended for devotion, limited distribution. Formerly mounted as a nightlight, the electrical system has been removed. Incised signature on the base. Chip on the base (at the rear), wear and minor losses at the ends, original patina preserved.
