Christofle Marly Silver-plated Metal Sauce Spoon, 1980s
A silver-plated sauce spoon by Christofle, Marly pattern, reference no. 40. The Marly pattern is one of the great classics of French silverware. Inspired by the Louis XV style and the Rococo vocabulary of the 18th century, it is distinguished by its richly chased decoration of shells, foliage, and asymmetrical scrolls. This iconic pattern graced the grand Christofle flatware sets of the 20th century. This serving spoon, designed for serving sauces, is recognizable by its shallow oval bowl and the pronounced step between the handle and the serving section, which facilitates pouring. An antique example in perfect condition. French made, produced in the 1980s. An ideal piece to complete a Marly flatware set, replace a missing piece, or create a cohesive and elegant dinner service.
