Larrañaga : "rest In Front Of The Basque Farm"
Larrañaga (Basque school, circa 1950/60): "Resting in front of the farmhouse," oil on canvas, 46 x 55 cm, mounted in a faux-wood painted frame, 60 x 68 cm.
Previously attributed to Xavier Larrañaga, which is obviously impossible as it was painted around the time of his birth, the composite signature includes a second name that I haven't been able to decipher.
This charming work depicts a Basque couple chatting in the shade of a typical regional farmhouse, with hens pecking in front of them.
