Alexandre Bougault (1875-1950): "Encampment in the desert", silver photograph circa 1920 bearing the dry stamp "A. Bougault Editeur" 23 X 59 cm, mounted in an oak strip 26 X 62 cm. Undulations of the photo paper and dirt interleave between it and the glass.
This encampment animated by many characters cooking or napping and teaching children between the tents.
The author, son of a photographer from Toulon of the same name, ended up settling in Tunisia, but photographed all of the Maghreb.
