René Prou (1887-1947) is one of the most important designers of the Art Deco period. At the age of 15, in 1902, he entered the Palissy school in Paris, specializing in various professional and artistic training programs. He began his career at Gouffé, on Boulevard Saint-Antoine, and after being drafted during the First World War (1914-1918), he participated in the Salon d'Automne, where he presented a first-class ocean liner cabin for the Schmidt company. This marked his first creation in the art of travel. He then worked on numerous decoration and interior design projects for ocean liners and railway passenger cars. He went into business for himself in 1925 and opened a stand. named "Elegances" at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts "which allows him to begin a great career. His personal and inventive creations give his metal and wood furniture elastic and voluptuous forms.
