Oil on panel: "Morning Impression" by Bernard Cowez (1926-2016), a French painter from the Bourbonnais region. Signed "B. Cowez" in the lower left corner, annotated on the back "B. Cowez Morning Impression." Presented in a beautiful giltwood frame showing some old woodworm damage and a few chips. A lovely antique patina is present!
This work perfectly illustrates the artist's mastery of the palette knife technique. Bernard Cowez frequently exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from the 1920s onward and won numerous awards for his paintings. He also exhibited his work in other local and international exhibitions, such as in Brussels and the United States.
