Jan Saverys (1924-2017), a Belgian painter, was the son of Albert Saverys. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent from 1943 to 1946 and at the Grande Chaumière in Paris from 1946 to 1948. He learned and began his artistic journey with expressionist techniques from his father before dedicating himself, from 1948 onwards, to a completely different style: lyrical abstraction. His works, chaotic yet harmonious, are created using both a dark palette and vibrant colors. He most often works with charcoal and pencil.
