Pierre Jean François Turpin was a French botanist and illustrator. He is considered one of the greatest botanical illustrators of the Napoleonic era. Turpin is responsible for some of the most beautiful existing watercolors and illustrations of plants. Large and beautiful drawing depicting a Nymphaea coerulea, also called the Egyptian blue lotus. Signed lower left. A restored tear in the lower right corner that does not affect the drawing. On the verso, an annotation: M. Delile no. 162.
