Two-part glazed walnut buffet – Regency period, early 18th century. This beautiful piece of joinery features an elegant gendarme's hat cornice adorned in its center with a carved shell, a characteristic decoration of the Regency style. The front is composed of two sections: a lower section with two solid, molded, and paneled doors, intended for storage; and an upper section with two glazed doors, forming a display cabinet or showcase, formerly used to display earthenware, glassware, or precious objects. The entire piece is made of solid walnut, with a beautiful antique patina and high-quality provincial joinery. This type of furniture, combining storage and display, was very popular in early 18th-century homes.
