A small bronze bust with a brown patina of a helmeted Athena, from a seal. The bust is presented on a gilt bronze base. The goddess is depicted wearing an aegis fringed with snakes and adorned in the center with a Gorgon's head. Possibly a Grand Tour bronze. France, 19th century.

Height: 6 cm. Total height with the gilt bronze base: 10 cm.

Athena is the goddess of military strategy, wisdom, and reason. Her representation on the upper part of a seal therefore holds particular significance for its owner.
