Berlin Foundry, 2 Beautiful Plaques: Goethe And Schiller, Early 19th Century, Good Condition

Two beautiful portraits, Berlin cast iron, by renowned modeler Leonhart Posch (1750-1831). (See last photos).
The two great poets of German Romanticism are honored by this exceptionally fine cast iron, a specialty of Berlin manufactory, early 19th century.
Iron is first sand-cast and then treated with a varnish made from soot and linseed oil. This varnish, through evaporation, blackens metal and protects it from rust.
The small suspension ring is also found on examples in Berlin Museum.
Each reverse side is engraved of poet's name.
Good condition, without flaws. Slight traces of a former, now missing, frame.
Goethe: 93mm; Schiller: 91mm. 96.2g and 95.6g.
