A very fine representation by the 19th-century painter Noel (signed lower right). The accuracy of the youthful features and the lovely pastel colors make this miniature a rare and high-quality representation. In very good condition, this piece has historical significance. A little history: Jean-Baptiste Klébert, born March 9, 1753, in Strasbourg and assassinated June 14, 1800, in Cairo, Egypt, was a French general who distinguished himself during the Egyptian Campaigns; a loyal follower of Emperor Napoleon I.
